FRANCIS BONNEFOY SENIOR this character is played by Maple PERSONAL INFORMATION NICKNAME: He loves pet names and endearments, won't you create one for him? AGE: 17 GENDER: Male SEXUALITY: Male? Female? Other? Why limit oneself by gender? NATIONALITY: Proud Frenchman PERSONALITY INFORMATION POSITIVE: Proud: He has a lot of pride in who he is. He loves himself and believes this is the first step to influencing others to love him as well. He is comfortable in his own skin and is not afraid to show off his body. Down side is that this can be used as a weapon against him all too easily, calling his personal value into question to convince him to do things. Flirty: He admires beautiful people, and he wants to show them his appreciation, is that really so wrong? Open: He's not afraid to speak to people, and doesn’t intentionally hide things about himself. If he hasn't told you about something, it's likely it just never came up in conversation. But then, how often does the phrase "Do you have any severe mental illnesses that I should know about?" come up in conversation. Romantic: From the big romantic gestures, to the smaller everyday expressions. He is a romantic is every way. "Big Brother": He loves to be everyone's big brother, giving advice and teaching people about the things he believes he is an expert in, especially love. He is also the type to be there for the ones he cares about when they're having a rough day, so he can try and cheer them up. Affectionate: He certainly had no issues with PDA or touching in general. Even with family and friends he is very openly affectioate... maybe too affectionate? Passionate: It can seem uncommon that he develops an interest in something, but when he does he doesn't let go. He also has strong beliefs that he is often unwilling to drop. NEGATIVE: Arrogant: Pride does have a dark side as well. Francis tends to think of himself as better than his peers, and will often imply this as he speaks to you. Certainly a point that can annoy a lot of people. Vain: Francis can be very concerned about his looks. From his hair, to his figure, everything has to be perfect before he will begin his day. Over Dramatic: He has a habit of hamming things up. Some may consider this endearing, but for most it can get irritating very fast. Flighty: As loving as he can be, Francis has never been good at directing his love at any one person. He feels it would be a crime to deprive the world of his love.... or maybe he just hasn't found the person he really wants to settle down with. Stubborn: He hates to fold on his opinions or feelings, but then again, who does? He is not the type to back down easily and will often bicker over the smallest things, especially with a certain English boy two class years below him. More often than not, this attachment to his ideas and beliefs can be troublesome, namely, when his beliefs are untrue. Cowardly: Not so much that he is afraid of his own shadow or anything, but he is certainly more of a lover than a fighter. Expectant: He has a bad habit of expecting that those around him will do things without actually asking ahead of time. For example, talking about his plans to hang out with a friend, only to be genuinely surprised, and possibly offended, to learn that they have previously made other plans. LIKES: Flowers: He loves everything about them, from their scent, to their look, to the language of floriography. He was actually thrilled when his mother first explained to him about the language of flowers. It is so fascinating that people have created such a romantic language. He likes to keep a Vase of flowers in his dorm room because of the scent. Flowers will always hold their own special place in his heart. Rich food: He particularly loves the richly flavoured food that is a signature of his country, but he will eat food from other countries if it has a good flavour. Beauty: He appreciates the beautiful things in life. He likes things to be perfect. The right symmetry, the right balance of light and colour and shape. Hard to get: He likes when people are hard to get, because it feels so much sweeter when he does manage to have his affections returned. Hot Tempered Brits: It's hard to explain, but ever since he met a certain family from Britain, it has been on his mind. His Family: He simply adores them. Especially his little sister, who he loves to fawn over. The Human Form: He strongly believes that the human body is a work of art that should never be hidden away, only accentuated. Urban Life: He loves the life and activity of the city, so many fascinating people always wandering around. And the fact that there are so many tourists in Nice only makes it better. Wine: He may not be legal age yet, but his parents have been allowing him a glass or two with dinners for a few years now, and he just loves the taste of a good wine. Being Photographed: Not much to say, he feels he is very photogenic and few disagree. DISLIKES: Forced Love: Never! Love should always be given freely, never taken. He can not understand why anyone would do such a thing, and considers rape to be the most vile and detestable crime and person could commit against another. Bland Food: Especially English Cuisine, though most, so called, American food isn't any better. If one must eat anyway, why not make it a taste experience to be remembered? Computers: Yes, it's odd in this day and age, but he's never really been a big fan. Who needs Facebook when you can meet someone in person? Or even sending a handwritten letter, which is a lost art in his opinion. He will use a computer if he needs to, but beyond that, he'd rather not. Speaking English: He loves his mother tongue, and wouldn't ever bother with English if he didn't need to for school. As a bit of rebellion, he usually makes sure to keep his heavy French accent, though he could speak English better than that. Waking Abruptly: He just doesn't like it. He would much prefer waking naturally, perhaps with the sun warming his face. He will certainly be grouchy if you wake him before he is ready. OTHER INFORMATION HISTORY: As the saying goes; Francis was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His father being a skilled business owner, his family was never left wanting for necessities, and the children were often spoiled just because the parents could afford it. He can't remember too clearly the time his little sister was born, but according to his mother they made a very cute pair when they were small. He does remember wondering about the odd twitch his father had around the mouth, but his father assured him it was nothing for Francis to worry about. When he started attending school he didn't really show much interest in making friends, but his parents assumed he was probably just shy. They tried to coax him into meeting people, but when that didn't take, they decided they would leave him to grow into it when he was ready. When he was having trouble in class, they got him a tutor to help with his homework. They didn't realise anything was wrong until a couple years later when he became convinced that his next door neighbour had been replaced by "The Bad Men" and was there to spy on Francis. Even then they brushed it off as an active imagination. But when the conviction persisted, along with claims that he knew because "they" had told him, they finally decided it might be time to see a doctor. It took several meetings with psychiatrists over the course of more than a year, but finally he received a diagnosis of schizophrenia. He began taking anti psychotics and attending regular therapy, but it didn't seem like it was changing too much. That is, until Francis approached his mother one morning in the garden, after watching her from the window for a long time, and started asking about the various flowers. This was the first time his mother really felt like she had a connection with her son in a long time and she, thrilled that Francis was showing an interest in something, was more than happy to teach him everything she knew. With help, he was able to improve his grades, and when it came close to time to move on from Collège, he discovered an information package in his school's office describing Accademia Mondiale. The idea of such a school fascinated him and after talking long with his parents, and a few calls to the school to arrange for particular accommodations, they agreed to allow him to attend the overseas school. He would be starting in what Americans called Sophomore year. From the start it seemed the students had certain expectations of him. After all, he was French, surely he must be very romantic. As a result, he ended up going on several dates with girls who were fascinated by his looks, or his heavy accent, but they never really lasted beyond a single date due to Francis being overly distracted and not really showing interest in really connecting with these girls. Though he did enjoy the flirting part, it was rather interesting to see the expressions people had when he smiled a certain way or nodded to them. It was no real surprise that he built a reputation as a heart breaker, so after Christmas holiday, when he entered a relationship with a strong-willed girl in his year, it was a surprise to most of the school population. The relationship lasted a few weeks before she ended up dumping him, much to his distress. After the loss he could feel himself slipping. He hid himself away from others as much as possible until the school nurse came to find him in his dorm room. She had been concerned after he had missed too many days of class and one of his regular appointments with her. With the Nurse's help he was able to stabilize once again and even continue to the end of the year with decent grades. He fell back into his routines, including his old dating habits. Junior year passed mostly without incident. When he was home for the holidays before senior year however, he was enjoying some time at the waterfront watching the ocean and singing to himself when a redhead with thicker eyebrows than he thought possible approached him. Usually Francis wouldn't pay much mind to tourists, which the boy certainly was if his accent was anything to go by, but for some reason this boy caught his interest. He wasn't sure why, it certainly wasn't their looks that fascinated him. Seriously, no one's eyebrows should be that conspicuous. As it turned out, the boy was vacationing with his family from England. Francis ended up acting as a sort of tour guide for the boy and his brother during their visit, and was quite fascinated by their relationship with each other. They would argue a lot, but somehow it had seemed to Francis that despite that they cared about each other a great deal. When he found out the family was returning home he took the younger brother's hand and proposed to the blond, though the way he did it he seemed to be joking about it. Still, he was firmly rejected and the family returned to their island country and Francis figured he would probably never see those boys, or their new adopted sister, again. Let's see what his third year at Accademia Mondiale brings. HOBBIES: Sketching: He loves to draw all sorts of things, from people to nature to architecture; anything he finds beautiful and interesting. He likes to keep a sketchbook with him much of the time. Some of his sketches can come across as a bit abstract to the average viewer. Singing: Not only does he enjoy hearing his own voice, but singing relaxes him, and allows him to express any number of emotions that he sometimes has trouble getting across the usual way. Fashion: Designing, admiring, modeling. Not that he plans on being a professional designer, but he does sketch out some of his own ideas, and even has a few custom outfits he created. He also regularly attends fashion week in Paris with his mother. Gardening: A hobby he picked up when he was nine, he finds it calms him and helps him feel connected to things around him. He enjoys caring for the plants, and feels especially accomplished when he can cook a meal using vegetables or herbs he grew himself. The hardest thing about going away for school is leaving his home garden behind, but he knows his mother will care for it. And he does have the school's gardening club to look forward to throughout the year. Cooking: He has learned a lot from his father about the art of creating fine cuisine, and really likes making things that most people can enjoy. Plus, it makes him a bit more self sufficient than a lot of people his age. Museums/Boutiques: He loves to go for strolls through them admiring odd or stylish things things he discovers there. Disclaimer: I understand that Schizophrenia is a severe Mental Illness and have done my best to portray it respectfully, however some creative liberties have been taken for the sake of storytelling. No offense is intended with this action. Also a note to anyone wishing to Play Monaco, if you wish to be Francis' little sister, you are welcome to, and feel free to PM me about details, but I won't be too upset if you decide not to be as well. The opening is there either way, and I would be rather fascinated to see the history of a Monaco growing up with a mentally ill brother, and how this affects her. As an additional note to anyone, I may add to this or tweak it as things come to me through actually playing the character. I apologise if I am not too good at describing a character, but in this sense I tend to work better with actually playing a character and letting ideas develop over time than explaining personality and such in a few short paragraphs. by rimy ♥ of btn! |
