JONES FRESHMAN this character is played Maple PERSONAL INFORMATION NICKNAME: Al, Hero, Annoying Yank AGE: 14 GENDER: ♂ SEXUALITY: Claims to be Straight NATIONALITY: 100% all American PERSONALITY INFORMATION POSITIVE: Alfred has always been an energetic boy, never stopping for anything. He talks quickly and is in near constant motion, often tapping his feet or wringing his hands if forced to sit idle for too long. And with an active body comes an active imagination. Alfred loves to dream up ideas for all sorts of things, from what would make an awesome movie to how best to spend his summer vacation. Many of his ideas are farfetched, outragous, or even just plain terrible, but within all that, there are actually a few brilliant gems as well.Sometimes compared to a sunny day, Alfred is a warm individual, bright in more ways than one. He is cheerful and friendly and optimistic and makes most situations lighter just by being involved. He loves seeing the people around him smiling, and especially loves when he’s part of the reason for the smiles. Few realize this, but he can also be quite clever when he tries. A great number of those crazy, out-of-this-world ideas of his actually have a great deal of thought put into them. And he is amazing in his history, science and math classes. Now if only he'd put the same effort into English or world studies. He is not the type to lay down and let others do as they will around him and is very opinionated; he knows exactly what he believes and is more than willing to stick to his guns even if he is outnumbered. He doesn't really fear people at all and is, in fact, quite outgoing. He is regularly the first to introduce himself, happy to speak up in class and rarely shies away from a conversation, Alfred is very patriotic. He'd never want to live in any other country in the world, and hated the bad rep the USA gets lately. Without Americans there are so many things we wouldn't have now! He's certainly an all American boy, from his movie-star smile to his star spangled boxers. He's not just loyal to his homeland, but to everything he cares about. He knows what it's like to not having people back you up, and would never let a friend go through the same if he can help it. He cares deeply about his friends, even if it might not always seem that way. NEGATIVE: Despite his claims to be the good guy, the hero, Alfred certainly has his share of bad habits as well. The most obvious it that he is very loud. Not only does he have difficulty keeping his thoughts to himself, but it often seems his volume dial has been turned up to max, then broken off. Not that he can never keep his voice down, but he rarely bothers to. In the vein of not keeping his mouth shut when he should, he often speaks without thinking, lacking a filter between thoughts and words, and coming across as very blunt or tactless. This often leads to people becoming upset with him without him fully understanding why. So if he points out some conspicuous facial feature, he means no harm by it, but it can get old fast.Alfred can be very ignorant, especially about other countries and cultures, often believing the things he sees in the movies, no matter how inaccurate or outdated. This is another thing that can lead to unintentional insults. He'll stubbornly hold on to those beliefs and many others, despite overwhelming proof to the contrary. He doesn't accept contradictions to his world view too easily and it takes great effort to convince him to change his mind once it's set. And with a naïveté that allows him to believe those movies so willingly, Alfred always believes the best in people. He couldn't imagine a friend turning on him, even if it has happened with friends in the past. It may not seem so at first glance, but Alfred is actually quite vain. He puts a lot of stock in his appearance, and is very concerned about his weight. He feels he needs to maintain his "movie-star good looks" and spends a surprising amount of time in front of a mirror in the morning making sure he looks perfect. LIKES: Science: It’s so fascinating, I mean, you get to explore how the world works and even ways to make it a cooler place to live. There are so many awesome inventions, and we’re still making more. Seriously, Science has already done so much for us, and he wants to be a part of creating an even more incredible future. History: He never got why his classmates thought history was boring. It’s like an action movie, except cooler because it’s stuff that really happened. He gets to learn about real life heroes doing everything to protect friends and family and even their countries. How is that boring? Movies: Alfred loves the whole experience of a movie; from waiting in line opening night, to the overpriced but oh so buttery popcorn, so sitting in a darkened theater watching the previews. He loves watching them at home with his friends, and discussing all his favorite parts. Just be sure you don’t bring up a movie around him if you don’t want spoilers. Oh, and ever been to a movie premier event? Alfred has, and they’re awesome! Action/Adventure: Epic journeys, heroes saving the day and getting the girl, awesome effects, what’s not to love? Fairy Tales: Heroes, adventure and happy endings? This is like, the perfect combination of awesome. Though this is one thing he loves a little less loudly. Of course, he mostly knows the Disney versions, so be prepared to see him either deny it or break down crying if you tell him that the Little Mermaid actually dies at the end of the original story. Junk food: Who doesn’t love junk food? After all, if it’s so bad for you, there’s gotta be some reason it’s so popular; and that reason is, cus it tastes a-MAZING! Burgers: Best food ever. He swears he’d eat them for every meal if he was allowed to. Unfortunately, his parents don’t let him, but that’s alright. They’re still awesome. And hey, there’s Pizza and roasts and turkey to be had too. Sports: And just about anything active. Okay, not anything. But sports are fun, especially team ones where he gets to save the day and his team cheers for him… okay so that doesn’t always happen, but a boy can dream, ya’know? Baseball: America’s favorite pastime? Heck yeah! He’d love to go out for a game of catch, or pitch and hit, or if he can get enough people together, a full game of baseball. Flying: He loves to fly. Being in a plane and looking down through the window is always so impressive. Of course, if he had a pilot’s license it would be cooler; or better yet if he could fly without one, like SUPERMAN! Space: the final frontier. But really, do you know how many things we’re still finding out there? And Alfred totally believes there are aliens out there somewhere and dreams of meeting one of those little gray men sometime before he dies. Maybe he’ll even travel to mars and throw a party; because that would be awesome. Holidays: Well, why not? With the decorating and the celebrations with friends and family and the huge dinners and the costumes and candy and presents; is there a reason not to love holidays? Guns: They are powerful, and holding one makes Alfred feel powerful. He likes that feeling. Not that he believes he would point a gun at another person or anything, he ain’t that kinda guy. But he has fired them before, at a shooting range with close supervision. And besides, guns aren’t bad unless you use them for bad things. Like that saying, guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Zombies: The real reason guns exist. Okay, in all seriousness, zombies are the most awesome movie monsters ever. He doesn’t really know why he loves them so much, he just does. DISLIKES: Tension: Alfred often comes across as oblivious oaf who couldn’t read the atmosphere if it was written in a large print book, but in reality he just really hates tension and feels the need to barge into a serious or down moment with a broad smile and a joke. This in no way means he is incapable of being serious, he just prefers not to be. Fighting: This sounds strange coming from a guy who loves battle scenes, and has gotten into plenty of fights himself, but he really doesn’t like it. He’s not a pacifist, he does see the need to fight to defend ideals, self and loved ones, but he imagines he would love to see a day when it really was unnecessary. He especially hates the bad feelings and sour moods associated with a real fight. Ghosts: They’re really scary. And they could be anywhere, even right next to him as he’s doing his school work. Weighing Scales: He’s at that point in his life where body image is everything, and he might be a little self-conscious about his weight. He doesn’t like to weigh himself, afraid of what the numbers will tell him, sometimes forgetting the fact that he’s still growing and filling out, so weight gain is still very natural and fluxuating. Bullies: He will not stand for it, and will do his best to protect someone if he feels they are being bullied. Being treated as a bully really hurts him as well, because all he’d ever want to do is help. Villains: Alfred is the type of person to always root for the hero and to cause an uproar if the villain seems to be winning. Even if a villain is very well written or played and a really cool character; Alfred will dislike them on principle. Stinginess: Seriously, if you’ve got the money to spend, why not spend it? It’s not doing anything sitting in your bank account. What’s the point of making money if you don’t do anything useful with it. Besides, can anything really top the look on someone’s face when you give them the most awesome gift ever? Weakness: Though mainly in himself. After all, he’s supposed to be the hero, and heroes can’t be weak. He’s gotta be strong so he can help others, he can’t let it show when things bother him. As a result, even if he is hurting he will but on a smile and pretend everything is okay, only allowing himself to break when no one else will see. Loneliness: He loves company, and alternately, hates to be alone. He especially hates being on his own in the face of troubles. It really hurts when people you called your friends don't stand up for you when you really need it. Lies: He's got a bit of a black and white view on honesty and usually prefers people to say what they think instead of hiding it. He can be a bit of a hypocrite about this, as there are secrets he will hide, and if a truth is hard to hear he doesn't always want to hear it. OTHER INFORMATION HISTORY: When Alfred was born, his parents had been trying for several years, without success, to have a child. So it can be said that when Alfred did come along he was truly a miracle for them. Knowing that it was unlikely they would have another child, they instilled all their hopes and dreams for their future in little Alfred. Through his childhood Alfred was doted upon, had high quality education paid for by his parents and was never left in want of much anything. He was even left with the freedom to do just about anything he could want to.There’s a lot of pressure involved when your parents have such high expectations of you though, and there were a lot of times throughout his school career that he has felt like he wasn’t good enough. He’d get 85% on a spelling test; his parents ask why he didn’t study more. He gets second in a track race, he should have trained harder. Always pushing, always working to be the best, second will never be enough. But Alfred put on a smile and kept on working, unwilling to give up in his efforts to see his father proud of him. In middle school things took a sour turn for Alfred. A new boy in the area joined Alfred's class at the beginning of grade seven. That wouldn't have been a problem, except that Alfred and the other boy could not get along on anything. And they would clash about it on a regular basis. When these arguments started earning him detentions for disrupting class, his parents were very displeased with him. He tried to shut him out, but the other boy insisted on continuing to antagonise him and Alfred just couldn't ignore him. The teachers turned a blind eye to the two for the most part, as long as they kept it down in class. Verbal fights eventually turned physical when words just weren't enough anymore. At first Alfred was proud when he turned out to be the better fighter of the two, but then the faculty got involved again. Apparently the other kid was a sore loser, and he had decided to claim that Alfred had been bullying him. And unfortunately for Alfred, the teachers, and even his own parents took the other boy's side. After all, the kid had a recent shiner courtesy of Alfred's fist and his friends as witnesses, and Alfred had only his own word. And that wasn't the end of it, despite the fact that Alfred had orders to stay away from the other kid, more charges of bullying came up from the kid and his friends. His father, sick of "Alfred's behaviour" pulled Alfred out of class and had him homeschooled until the end of grade eight. He has sent Alfred to the island boarding school with hopes that the new environ will "smarten the boy up" and added the threat that if he doesn't "get his act together" that it would be Military School next. Alfred, while not enjoying his father's reasoning, and liking the lack of support even less; is happy to be going to the boarding school. Not only does it mean getting away from the accusations and get a fresh start; but seriously, island school, with beaches he can visit all the time? What isn't awesome about that? HOBBIES: Video Games: From Mario to COD and GTA, Alfred enjoys playing video games. It's something that's been a part of his life for almost as long as he can remember. He's always keeping an eye out for awesome new games to add to his collection. Unfortunately, as much as he would love to have them all with him, there were too many to pack, so he could only bring along a handful of his favourites. Do you know how hard it was to choose which ones to go without for almost ten months?! Vlogging: Alfred created his own Web Show that he is quite proud of. Mostly he talks about whatever new crazy ideas he has had, along with the real life experiences that Inspired them. "So, I saw this comic about global warming the other day and I thought 'wouldn't it be so awesome if we made a giant, robotic hero to patch up the ozone hole?' I mean, seriously, how awesome would that be?" Making Movies: Nothing professional so far, but Alfred likes to write screenplays and act them out with friends, and film them. It probably won't be long before he's roping his new schoolmates into being his new cast. Debate: Since he was introduced to it in middle school, Alfred has found he really enjoys arguing his opinion, especially with the facts to back him up. And hey, he has plenty of opinions to ague, after all. Building Things: He loves working with his hands, often taking things apart to see how they work, and trying to find ways to make them better. He's tried to build a robot, but he hasn't succeeded... yet. He hasn't given up, he just needs some time to figure out a new approach. by rimy ♥ of btn! |
